NDS Yggdrasil Labyrinth - New Name, Info, and Screens

Atlus now plans on bringing Yggdrasil Labyrinth to the states, with the new name of Etrian Odyssey. Until it releases in the first quarter of 2007, read up on some info and watch some screens inside. Update: Atlus has released a press release for even more confirmation.

Special thanks go out to Kyle.

For those who are unfamiliar, this is a first-person exploration RPG thats puts you in the newly discovered land of Etria in the search of treasure and glory. The top screen will display the first-person view of the area you are in, while the lower screen gives you the control of customizing your own map so you will know what paths you're taking while marking reminders to keep track of instances such as dead-ends and treasures.

You will also have the option of determining what class your character will follow, such as a warlock, alchemist, medic, templar, and dark hunter; each will have their own special abilities and talents. Aside from characters, guilds will be included that could host up to twenty different characters.

Press Release: Atlus U.S.A., Inc., a leading publisher of interactive entertainment, today announced the acquisition of the North American publishing rights to Etrian Odyssey, a ground-breaking RPG for the Nintendo DS known as Sekaiju no Meikyuu in Japan.

Directed by Kazuya Niinou (Trauma Center: Under the Knife), with story design by Shigeo Komori (Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner) and sound design by the legendary Yuzo Koshiro (Actraiser, Streets of Rage), Etrian Odyssey is currently scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2007.

'Å“This game revitalizes the classic spirit of exploration and adventure for a new platform and a new audience,'? said Nich Maragos, project lead of Etrian Odyssey for Atlus USA. 'Å“The hand-drawn map feature along with the lush graphics will make gamers want to get lost in the striking forest world of Etria.'?

Etrian Odyssey has not yet been rated by the ESRB; an E10+ or T rating is expected.
