NDS Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - Details

In the latest edition of Nintendo Power, some of the upcoming Zelda-beans were spilled.

The latest edition of Nintendo Power shows a few new details on Eiji Aonuma's Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass title for the Nintendo DS. While at first the first Zelda game on the DS was set to be a Four Swords-type of game, Aonuma claims he could not resist continuing the Wind Waker tour now that he got the chance. Advancing on that, Phantom Hourglass is regarded to be the path to take for possible future Zelda titles on the Nintendo DS.

A few of the interesting points made in Nintendo Power's article:Phantom Hourglass will see the return of the Bow and Arrow, Hookshot and a musical instrument. The King of Red Lions will not see a return in Phantom Hourglass. We're sorry, but talking boats are so 2003.Ganondorf is also very unlikely to return in the DS's first Zelda adventure. The game contains one master dungeon needed to complete the game. To get through the entire dungeon, players will have to struggle through other dungeons first as area's will simply not be accessible otherwise.Phantom Hourglass will make use of the Nintendo DS's built in microphone. Although Aonuma did not wish to comment on that, we expect either a flute-like instrument or in-game candle-tricks

  • eh, ok. make it a Zelda that lives up to it's name, please. I still worry about the stylus controls.

  • Heh, Wind Waker is my favourite Zelda game. My most loved game artistically aswell. I have high hopes for this, but I really want to see a console sequel to the game too.

  • I'm just happy it's keeping the cel-shaded look. I think Zelda is much better that way. It looks like this game might be better than TP...although I guess I can't tell without playing either of them.

  • im pretty nervous about the control scheme too. From what i've read, some people hate it while others think that its fairly good. but i have faith in nintendo. they rarely releases a game they don't find enjoyable (especially with a big franchise like zelda)
