I think IGN will give it much higher then 8.5. In a hands on preview last year they stated that it's shaping up to be the best handheld game ever. :D

IGN is fairly biased in their reviews. So I think it will get a 9.2+ since they love Mario.
Those mini games from mario 64 aren't awful man, they're actually pretty fun.

I can't believe how negative some of you are! I'm so psyched for this game and I'm losing interest in games (oxymoronlicious). I haven't bought any games since resident evil 4 and even then that took convincing, this game has convinced me to purchase a DS (lite hopefully :D).
I won't judge til I've played it but I really think this'll deserve 9+ from what I've seen. And whoevers bitching about the mini games is lame, I always play them on my friends DS and for ppl like me who don't own SM64DS (totally not worth my cash) this is a great opportunity.

The first Screenshot has settled my biggest fear. And that was that the game would be incredibly short. But the map shows branching paths and 8 worlds! Thank goodness they didn't mess that up.
And about the mini-games: It doesn't look like they'll be just a multiplayer version of the SM64DS ones, but new ones too. The snowball fight looks good to me.
Definitely getting this.
Platformers rock the proverbial socks.
