ALL Mailbag - Issue 3

A day late, and we apologize for that. Fact is that we do have a cheesy question in the mailbag this week.

Dear DS-x2 team, I'd like to know whether you have any information about a Revolution releasedate for Europe.
questionmark
Dennis:

The last thing I accidentally heard was 'November 2006' for Europe...

Jay:

I'm not sure honestly, rumors are saying November worldwide, but there is no solid release date yet. I'd imagine that they are trying to see how many they can make for launch first and then they will finalize when to launch.

Malte:

I wouldn't expect the Nintendo Revolution to be released before November 2006, perhaps November 17th.

Ben:

No set date has been confirmed for US, Japan or Europe yet. However, it seems to be unofficially launching mid November.

Hello, Which games do you expect for Revolution launch?
Someone who wanted to remain anonymous
Dennis:

With the latest statement by Nintendo being 20 titles at launch, of which about 6 first party titles, I think it's safe to assume we'll definately see a Mario title and perhaps a Metroid FPS. I also expect Nintendo to come up with one or two titles based on a new intellectual property. I'm thinking about so-called non-games such as the recent Brain Training-series.

Furthermore, Ubi Soft is heading to the Revolution with Red Steel. Rumour is that in just over a week (April 20), many NDA's (Non-Disclosure Agreements) will end. At that point, developers, publishers and press are allowed to publish information on their current projects for the Revolution. Stay tuned!

Jay:

Joy of Painting with Bob Ross.

Matt Ducky:

I think Super Smash Bros and some 3rd Party games.

Alistair:

At this point, the only game Nintendo has confirmed for launch is Super Smash Bros. It's more than likely, though, that there will also be a Mario title. Tecmo's Pangya Golf has been confirmed to be coming to the Revolution, and will be hitting other consoles around November, but not outside of Japan.

Getting into the realms of guesswork, Animal Crossing could also make the launch, a new Metroid Prime game is a strong possibility, and then there's that mysterious new game franchise that Nintendo keeps hinting at.

Oh, and don't forget that all the games on the Virtual Console will effectively be launch titles too!

Ali:

I would expect Metroid Prime 3, a few third party games, and possibly a Mario game (if there's going to be one, I'd say Mario Party Revolution is the most likely to be a launch titile). Zelda isn't on my list because The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is launching near the Revolution launch, and Nintendo is saying that Zelda: TP is sort of considered a Revolution launch title (theres some exclusives when you play it on the Revolution, by the way). So don't expect a exclusive Revolution Zelda title at launch. Also, stay tuned at E3 to learn more news on the launch games.

Malte:

I don't know. we should wait for E3 to see more. There Nintendo will also the last big mystery. But one game seems to be a given: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which is also playable on the Nintendo GameCube platform.

Do you like CHEESE?
Steve
Dennis:

I'm from The Netherlands, what did you expect? We all wear clogs, live in windmills and eat cheese for breakfast. No... not really, but yes I like cheese (unless you're talking about 'cheese' like Brie, can't stand the thought of eating fungi for pleasure)

Jay:

It's alright... what? I didn't say I didn't like it, I eat it so that must mean somthing right? *looks the other way*

Matt Ducky:

Yes, I love cheese! Just as much as Wallace from Wallace & Gromit. (And I know Ben loves it too. =p)

Alistair:

I am a very big fan of cheese. All cheese. King Island Double Blue is my favourite, but I have a fondness for Roquefort. Roquefort Société is my favourite producer - I find the butyric acid in their cheese to be more pronounced, whilse the salt content of the rind is less noticable and offensive than some others I could name (Gabriel Coullet, I'm looking at you).

Ali:

Yes, I do in fact like cheese. Parmesan cheese, Mozzarella, and cheddar cheese are my personal faves.

Malte:

No, I hate it. In my opinion cheese tastes worse than sauerkraut

Ben:

Oh no, it's horrible. I once threw up after eating Pineapple Cheese. Never eating it again.

Ali (aimed at Ben):

Pineapple cheese? What? I've never heard of "Pineapple Cheese"... have you ever tried any different types? I mean, pineapple cheese itself sounds pretty disgusting (Cheese is more of a non-sweet thing, and pineapple is sweet...). I can understand why you threw up after eating that, but cheddar cheese is a great type. So is the others I mentioned before, and you should give them a chance before giving up cheese forever.

Be sure to ask us more questions through the contact-form. Your question could end up in the next mailbag! Just make sure we don't have to talk about cheese anymore...

  • @ Steve That was the best question in the whole mailbag.

    Matthew DS-x2, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • 20 launch titles for Revolution? Now that's a bad joke.

    J-Fox, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • i only like cheese on spagetti and pizza, go figure

    darkshadow61, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • @J-Fox: it's a statement made by George Harrison a few days ago.

    Dennis, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • Oh. Well... Too bad no one believes him. =P Anyway, if we would assume that a imaginary world with fairies and gnomes and shit like that would exist, a world where such things could actually happen... 20 launch titles and 6 of them first party... That would clearly be the fucking biggest, most unbelievable launch line-up for a game console EVER. ...So I wouldn't complain if that actually happened. It just won't.

    J-Fox, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • But Nintendo can make anything happen. ANYTHING! And if you think otherwise, send me your address and a house key and expect a visit within the week. But I digress (I love when Blathers says that), great job on the mailbag guys! I like the extra space. It looks like less reading, and I actually got all the way through this time. :) And cheese pwns all teh n00b f00dz. Just sayin'
