Castlevania: Dual Moons - Hoax?

Our recent report on a possible new Castlevania for the Nintendo DS in the works, may have been based on fake information.

Late last week, we reported on a discovery done by fellow gaming-websites: Castlevania: Dual Moons in the works and revealed in the next edition of GamePro. As proof, our colleagues showed their readers a scan of the cover of the next edition, which stated "Castlavania: Dual Moons. Dracula returns to the Nintendo DS in 2007, but will he finally meet his fate?"

The news spread fast through gaming-blogs and -fora, and little questioned the validity of the scan. Yes, Konami did speak of a possibly Wi-Fi enabled Castlevania. Yes, Nintendo Power also hinted at revealing a new Castlevania title. No, the GamePro-scan is most likely a hoax.

The DS-x2 staff stumbled upon an interesting Photoshop tutorial: "Today we will be learning about making a faux magazine cover." Sounds interesting, so lets dig deeper. "For this experiment, we'll choose GamePro." Wait a second... GamePro as the magazine which supposedly reported the new Castlevania title? This deserves more attention. "Use a magic wand", "paste the logo", "add in a Mario"; This is starting to look nice indeed. "Write something about Castlevania"... What? "Castlavania: Dual Moons. Dracula returns to the Nintendo DS in 2007, but will he finally meet his fate??"

The tutorial supplied us with the exact same image as was shown last week as proof of the new Castlevania. This leads us to the conclusion that the scan is, indeed, a hoax. Of course we still have the next edition of Nintendo Power to wait for, as the last edition of said magazine hinted at a new Castlevania as well.

  oh yeah I just discovered this at the forum it originated from. Castlevania Dungeon's forum. I didn't remember that ds-x2 ran the Dual Moon story or I would have meantioned it to someone here like I did for another site.
