Mario Goes For President
Nintendo is looking into a possible lawcase against a Dutch political group, the PvdA. Mario for president! Update Mirror added for the interested.
The Dutch political group Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA) recently used the Mario-character for a promotional movie to get more votes from young adults during the recent elections in the Netherlands. In the movie, the PvdA's leader (Wouter Bos) is dressed up as Super Mario himself, taking care of all things evil.
Nintendo BeNeLux (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) was not pleased with the usage of the Super Mario character in a political promotional movie as the company does not wish to be linked to any political preference at all. While the PvdA is currently celebrating their large victory on yesterday's elections, Nintendo is looking into possible legal actions to undertake.
