GBA GBA Car System Presented At CES

If we can believe our colleagues at Nintendo Insider, Nintendo will present a new GBA revision during the upcoming CES event. Update It's official. Full specs can be found here.

Our colleagues from Nintendo Insider are claiming to have a once in a lifetime scoop: a revision of the GBA. Described as 'an in-car Game Boy Advance system', the device is said to playback DVD movies, CD's and Game Boy Advance games (and videos of course).

Nintendo has not yet made an official statement on Nintendo Insider's claims, who also brought in a photo of said hardware.

  • It´s not a Nintendo product. Visteon just got a permission to use GBA technology.

  • Yeah, I'm curious to know how you play GBA in the car if the thing is on the ceiling...

  • i don't see why they couldn't pushed a bit harder and gone with a GCN alternative. Also, does this require some special controllers?

    MikeMania, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • That was done by Panasonic.

  • They could ofhave done it with the gamecube :S using wireless control to play. GBA still do ^_^

  • This is why i stand by Nintendo. Always Breaking limits.

    jedibmoney, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • ...What the hell?! Thats a pretty big screen, aren't the games going to look a little distorted if anything?

    Jordan Revo-Europe, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • What happened? Nintendo has always stay with the believe that a "game console" should concentrate on the ability to play game. That's why NGC did not have the ability to play movie DVD because it's not necessary.

  • The picture on the site has no similarity to a GBA at all, and why would they suddenly put GBA games in the car? Why not GCN? Why not both?

    Nintendude, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • I didn't see this one coming.

    Plat Sajack, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • Jordan: how big is that TV of yours connected to your GameCube running a game through the GB Player? ;)

    Dennis, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • Main point of the system is the ability to play DVDs in the car. I quess Nintendo has just made some kind of deal with some other company to let them use GBA technology in their portable DVD player. Nice little extra if you ask me... At least it´s not GB Micro SP. :P

  • unless of course this information is false...we'll just have to see.

    NPC, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • ...What the hell?! I guess it's about time though...I was just saying the other day how interesting it is that in-car DVD players are being paired with games....crappy, cheap games adn that Nitnendo could do better. Sure enough, but I didn't expect this. This came out of nowhere....
