Welcome to the new and hopefully improved DS-x2. Head inside to read all about the new features that come with the new design.
First things first. Although the new design is up and running, there's a small chance that you will encounter one or more tiny bugs in the site. As much as we'd like to offer you the best, we are only human too. If you do encounter something not functioning properly or looking odd, please do not hesitate to let us know using the contact forms.
And now for the full story on the new DS-x2. Most obviously, DS-x2 has received a new layout. This year the choice has been made to base the site on the European Nintendo DS packaging, meaning the choice of the black/grey/red color-scheme. But aside from this graphical change, DS-x2 has been going through a few more changes.
Registered users can now choose an avatar. The avatars will be shown in the news-comments next to all of your existing and upcoming comments. At the moment, you can choose from over 70 avatars. If you think we're missing avatars or would like to donate avatars, again do not hesitate to let us know using the contact forms. Another tiny change for registered readers is the usage of display-names. In the past, your username was converted to small capitals only and was shown above all of your comments. From now on, you can also enter a display-name. The display-name can contain capitals and will be shown instead of your username. The nice part is that, in contrast of your username, you can change your display-name whenever you want to. Both your avatar and display-name can be changed at the My Profile page.
Next up, the DS-x2 Nintendo WiFi Connection Program. Finding friends can be hard, and so we've started our own little program for registered readers to find friends amongst your fellow readers. Simply fill in your friendcodes for the Nintendo DS games you're eager to find new friends for, and either invite people to become your friend or wait for an invitation. Everything there is to know about the DS-x2 Nintendo WiFi Connection Program can be found in the My Profile pages (only available for registered and logged in users).
In the future, DS-x2 will face a few more minor changes. Whenever that happens, you'll be notified through the main-page or through the official DS-x2 forums.

The red things are called the Nintendo DS europen logo ^_^ I personly like it, and I dont care that there is no "logo" but you should have the icon as a DS logo or a DS like the last layout had a GBA.
What Opium said, the red things are nice. Except the stuff inside them doesn't go.
Great changes all around! I should submit some advance wars avatars...but I'm not sure which option to choose on the contact page.
the red things with the feature article images on the side of the page look very ugly. The images don't look very good surrounded by red. Also there's no banner for the site :( You've got to have a banner! Also the top buttons on the site while cool that they fade in when highlighted lose their appeal after 30 seconds, they're too faded out and it just looks odd to have them like that at the top of the page :-/ Also when you hover over them they don't tell you what the buttons do. So it'd be a rather confusing layout for newcomers and a bit of a put off. I hope that was some constructive critisism. Aside from that the design is okay. It's just not as 'functional' as the old design, everything seems like it's hidden and hard to find.

Yeah, the selection of avatars are a bit small... hopefully they will add more in the future or let us use our own. Hopefully.
..oh yeah btw Can we have a larger selection of avatars plz? Or will we be able to use our own in future?

I loved the old layout, this is pretty slow plus cant access the topics yet for news items or it doesn't support firefox
I personly didnt like the old layout, to me it was old fasion and didnt suit either the DS or GBA. This layout is the classic "Europen Red and Black DS Feel" which Nintendo of Europe has been using for the promotions since the DS came out and before. Its a good theme, maybe Dennis will allow it so you dont have to have this theme, and if you liked the old one so mutch, you can go back to it.
It doesn't feel "unified". It's a nice effort but I guess I'm just biased because I was so used to the old layout.

I will submit some avatars soon, but does it matter if there sprited? Cause I only got paint at the momment.

Alright I'll submit some advance wars avatars soon! By the way my firefox 1.5 works perfectly with the site. I even get the hand icon over the "full story" link.

I knew it would be the red and black theme after Dennis said it was a clue. Thanks for making DS-x2 more cooler than before. Heck I spend more time here, then my own site.
I'm hmcowboy and I approve this layout. :) I like it, modern feel, always been a fan of red and black... In general, I LOVE IT!
Lots of cool new stuff like the avatars and friend code thing, but the site looks kind of plain maybe its because the background is black.
Hmm... odd, as it works for me in <b>Firefox</b>. However, Firefox will NOT show you the 'hand' icon when hovering over the 'Full Story' link. About <b>the banner</b>, I was thinking about putting in a logo at the top-right (over the four grey blocks). However, it didn't relly look nice. The <b>two miniboxes</b> at the right (the red squares), you're right about that. The two currently online were made a bit to fast. Had to leave myself, and forgot I had to create those two... My bad, but they will improve with the next content. <b>Avatars</b> can be submitted if you want. Just send an email with the avatars to "avatars (a) ds-x2.com" and I'll put them up asap. Just make sure it's a 40x40 pixels image (including the 1 px black border). For those who like the old layout more, I might be able to throw up a small subdomain (old.ds-x2.com?) and get the old layout up and running there. However, it's way too much effort to get the new features running there as well. The site itself has been rewritten from scratch, making use of an entirely new framework. If you guys want to, let us know through the contact-form or the forums, and I'll see what I can do for you.

I think I know what the red things are, I do live in the UK. The site needs a banner somewhere.
Poeple who contribute should be able to have coloured names as an option.
You guys need more cool avitars! I will possibly make some :d. People who contribute should get more choices for avitars :d
I dont realy mind the site without a banner, but if the banner is from the navigation to the black squares and it white or something and a sorta pictures of the DS and GBA ect. with the logo on it, that would be cool.
I want a Mega Man avatar, Kirby is only my 2nd gavorite video game character ever.

The avatar thing is kinda nice and the fact that I can get my name to display properly is good because, well... Because it's about fucking time. Other than that, I hate the new desing, it's ugly as hell and slower to load.
Change it back, or at least make an option to!

The layout is very nice ^_^. The Wi-Fi Connection feature is a great addition, sure to help members find others to play against. I see there's avatars for messages now too =P. Nice job!

The Layout is Ok, I think.. but still needs improvements.. dont realy know what exactly i´m missing, but it just doesn´t look "finished" imho.. The WiFi Program is a great idea!!!

I guess I'll be the bad guy ... I'm not a huge fan of the new layout. I like the new features, but there are many things about the layout that bugs me. I started typing everything out here, but decided to go with a CONTACT US form instead... just got too long. I do believe its a step in the right direction!

Hey hey, it's Jordan from Revo-Europe, Dennis :P I love the new layout, i'd go as far as saying it looks better than ours!
It seems awfully cluttered to me, and it looks like everything is trying to be to futuristic. This packaging may work on the DS' box in Europe, but not very well on a website.

Maybe not .. the feedback form isn't working properly (says that everything wasn't filled out when it clearly was). Growing pains I'm sure ... I'll save my comments and submit them later on.
