Reggie drops hints about remodeled DS
Rumour: Nintendo will release a smaller and better looking Nintendo DS this coming Spring.
After having an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime of Nintendo of America's marketing department, CNN reveals that there may be a redesign of the DS coming very soon.
"As soon as [the DS] was launched, we started looking at ways to tweak it visually." says Mr. Fils-Aime.
Interestingly enough, in the most recent issue of Swedish gaming magazine Gamereactor there is a rumour that states a "smaller and better" looking model of the Nintendo DS will be released in Spring 2006.
So is there a new model of the DS in the works for next Spring? Well we will just have to wait and see what Nintendo says about this rumour first. Until then, take this with a gain of salt. We'll keep you updated as more information about this new model is released.

I don't think a new ds will be released so soon, but I'm sure there is a new remodelled version in the making.
@moo_man Too early? Nah, not in today's market - a market of which buyers seek constant gratification from their products.
...Great... Just over a year and I might have an old model already... No way I am buy another one. However, it would increase sales, and I like sales. But don't you think less than a year and a half is way to early...
ya a more durable touch screen would be good
But I love my old DS... *gets out DS and starts scratching the touch screen*
@fishy: longer range won't do much good. The new DS still needs to be compatible with the old ones. Suppose your new DS can link up over 150 meters, while my old one could do 100. That leaves us with a problem: we're 50 meters short. My guess: less 'hard' edges, GB Micro-screen, thinner, longer battery life, maybe a more durable touchscreen.
i think this is great news!...but if this is true..now i have to decide between a DS or a Nrev...im leaning towards the Revolution though.
I'm guessing something of a DS SP. Thinner, brighter screen, smaller, longer battery life, perhaps longer range?
I'm honestly not so surprised at this announcement. Just the other day I began to wonder when Nintendo would announce or "hint" at an NDS re-design. I'm certainly not against it, but I'm not really amazed at the same time. One of my hopes, however, is that the redesign sports some new bios/flash/firmware features: mp3/mpg4 playback, GBA games streched to full DS screen etc... Hey, a man can dream, can't he?
:O
I have been waiting for this and I can't wait. I want a sleeker design and it to be thinner (tab to thick). I think a Fall 2006 at the earliest makes more sense, gives ample time for Nintendo's marketing/hype team to make everyone want one ^___^ and better graphics would be nice, may be a texture filtering chip or something? That way old DS's can still get in the action...
hmm, i doubt that, since they are just now rolling out the GBA Catridge Add-ons like rumble... unless they want to go the way of teh e-reader. Yes, they can make it thinner, but also they can trim quite a bit from both sides... i am really looking forward to this.
I'm not thinking smaller, I'm thinking it'll be thinner mostly on the bottom. (they'll most likely get rid of the GBA hardware)
i dunno... if its anysmaller i cant play it just like the micro... i seriously cannot play it for longer than 10 minutes... pain oh the pain!
I've been sayit all along, they will probobly get rid of the GBA slot to make it REALLY slim.
dam i just looked at this and there was n9o posts! i wanted to be first :( anyways a smaller ds would be cool to get more people without NDS's to get one
^O^
