Meetro Instant Messenger On DS
Meetroduction has announced a new instant messenger. However, this messenger will probably also hit the Nintendo DS.
Meetro allows users to take all of their current buddy lists with them, sporting compatibility with major IM networks such as AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo! and ICQ (with plans of MSN and Jabber soon). Meetro's "universal instant messaging" support continues to grow, with future support plans for networks such as MSN and Jabber.
"The beauty of Meetro is the direct way in which you connect with people nearby." said Paul Bragiel, CEO of Meetroduction. "Just run Meetro, double-click on a person and begin chatting immediately. It?s all realtime, which means you see and communicate with local people who are online right now.?
"We've entered an early stage of development for handheld console support, which includes both Sony PSP and Nintendo DS." Bragiel says, "We see the DS and PSP as platforms that were designed to be used for applications besides games. We want to bring social software to these machines."
The messenger won't hit the stores before the Summer of 2006, but for now we can enjoy ourselves with these promised features:Instant Messenger program telling how far users are away from each other in miles.Includes taglines, user pictures and an extensive customizable user profile. The program has AIM, ICQ support. Yahoo, MSN and Jabber support planned.
Earlier this month, rumours appeared on the internet that Google was interested in buying out Meetroduction. If that part turns out to be true, we might see more applications for the Nintendo DS in the future as well.

MSN MESSENGER?!?!?!? OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It'll be funny seeing PSP users use this. XD It like posting of a forum through their web browser lol.
There's a keyboard-addon for the PSP coming, so that might not be such a big problem. We'll have to do with the touchscreen-keyboard for now, I think (unless someone would create a pheripheral connecting to the GBA port).
