NDS Europa Universalis II Interplatform Multiplaying

In a recent interview with Pocket PC Studios, a somewhat futuristic statement was made regarding Europa Universalis II's multiplaying capabilities.

In the interview conducted by GagersMark, the question was popped to ask whether or not Europa Universalis II will utilize the Nintendo DS' upcoming online game service. The answer to the question as followed:

We intend to provide wireless support on the Nintendo DS version, permitting the DS to attach to a desktop PC acting as the game host. This support will also be available on the PDA versions, with all platforms interacting seamlessly.

Where interplatform multiplay was always regarded as futuristic, Pocket PC Studios seems confident in multiplaying accross different platforms. What this means? Imagine yourself playing Europa Universalis II on your Nintendo DS against your friend playing it on a PDA, maybe even add yet another friend playing the same game on his PC.

  • Funny, that I recently mentioned this on the C-E forums lately. My guess is that within the next generation consoles, or the one following that one, will feature platform independant multiplay as well.

  • This is Nintendo's speciality, doing this no one has done before to lead the trend. Technically GBA by itself could have done that because SFC to GBA converter and GB to GBA already exist. But NDS to PDA, or even NDS to Revolution; this has my full support.
