ETC News Posters Wanted

Basically, gba.n64europe.com is recruiting. News is what we like to offer, newsies are what we need to do so.

First, let's introduce you to the history of gba.n64europe.com. To be honest, the site started as a small project to learn myself some HTML for a uni course. With the GameBoy Advance just in my possession, I had found a theme and started a small website on Yahoo's free website hosting department (Geocities) which struck about 5 visitors daily. Then we made the move to one of my best friends' server: the N64europe.com server, part of the Cube-Europe network. On that server, the one-man project continued and grew to an average of 100 to 300 visitors daily. But the growing did not stop there yet...

During the last year, gba.n64europe.com no longer was a one-man project. Andrew Blanchard joined the team and enriched the site with his reviews. Various temporary newsposters crossed the main page, but many left within a short time. Nonetheless, the site continued to grow. From the 300 visitors a day we struck, the site now receives over 5.000 unique visitors with over 20.000 pageviews daily.

Now the time has come that I can't do my 'job' as a newsposter to full extend anymore. Recent developments in my personal life (a fulltime job and a wonderful girlfriend) consume more time than available, leaving gba.n64europe.com without news at most of the day. That's why I ask the readers to answer two simple questions:Would you be willing to join the gba.n64europe.com crew as a newsposter (read below), and if not...Should gba.n64europe.com be terminated as a whole to go out on its peak, instead of seeing it decline over time?

Basically these two questions are the ones keeping my mind busy lately when thinking about gba.n64europe.com. Alone, I can't manage. The help of Ben and Andrew alone just isn't enough either...

If you're interested in joining the newsteam, please answer the following questions for yourself first: - Is this just a fling, or do I really want to join the site and keep working on it for a decent time? - Can I actually bring in content, or did I always find all my news right here? - Do I write decent English, or can I only write in txtspk, l33t or EvEn WorSeOMGWTF? - Do I know basic HTML? Are <b>, <center> and <img src="url"> just weird encryptions to me? - Can I write Dennis an email at: dennis (at) gba.n64europe.com?

  • I'm working on my own website right now. I give info on the games I own, and I've never really looked into posting news. It's on Geocities, too, and I doubt more than 5 people know about it! Oh, well. Good luck, Dennis! I don't want this site to close, I learn all my news on handheld from here!

  • Awesome Dennis, congrats on your successes in life! :) Have as much fun as possible. But I definately think the site should not close. I visit it once a day because i know that this site has the all the news other sites don't. There are scans, unique news and reviews. That's why this place is so great. I'd apply for a newsie position but unfortunately I don't know where to get specific unique news outside of the gba + ds flashkit scene. Good luck, I hope you find some good newsies!

  • I'd really love to work for the site since I basically know all things DS and find my news right when it's released, but I'm probably too young and have school to worry about so... poo. :-(

  • ^ Im 14, I have school, and I can work here!

    skarma, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • You're only 14? =? Damn, now I feel bad for picking on you... I'm 20.

    J-Fox, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • Sooooo... How old is Dennis then? I kind of pictured him being 20-24 or something but now that I think about it, he might be 16 or something too. =??

    J-Fox, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • Dennis is 25. :)

    Thomas, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • 23... thank you for making me feel even older than a few minutes ago :P

    Dennis, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • Your mental age is 25 then.. fysically he's just 21. If you take an average of both, you get the explanation for why he's 23. Or not. :')

    Thomas, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • Or if your stupid, hes 38

    skarma, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • ...Or if Dennis is just lying. =D

    J-Fox, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • I'd definetely help if you'd accept, but I wouldn't know where to find all the handheld news. o.0

    faust_iv, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • I've signed up for the job ,I'm quiet good with getting most the handheld news because I visit aload of DS sites everyday.
