First Details Scratch! Viewtiful Joe
The latest edition of Famitsu magazine showed the first details on Scratch! Viewtiful Joe for the Nintendo DS. Update The first visuals are in.
In the latest edition of Famitsu magazine, Capcom has revealed the first few facts of their upcoming Viewtiful Joe-game for the Nintendo DS: Scratch! Viewtiful Joe.
First of all, the game is said to feature 3D graphics in a 2D gameplay environment, just as is the case in the original Viewtiful Joe games for the consoles. All the action will be happening on the bottom screen except for the VFX close-ups, these will appear on the top screen. Even though the action is on the bottom screen (the touch screen), controlling Joe will be done using the traditional controls: D-pad and buttons. The touchscreen will be used to trigger special moves instead.
Capcom also revealed that Scratch! Viewtiful Joe's main character will be, of course, Joe himself. However, Jasmine (Joe's sister) will be one of the stars as well in this game that's set in a theme park.
Update The first visuals are in.
The first scans from a Chinese magazine have arrived. The scans also reveal the 'split' feature: by drawing a line on the touch screen, certain objects can be 'sliced' in order to drop them on one or more enemies.
Update Apparently the scans are from a Chinese magazine. Thanks to Mr Cube from Nintendo-Inside for pointing this out.
As soon as we get more information on this title, we'll be sure to post it.

Sounds good, I posted this on my site a while ago though.
Funny, since the Famitsu magazine isn't out until 22/4 and this info has leaked less than a day. :P By the way... do you mean the ben-johnson thing, or the 'new' one you've been advertising on a few boards? ;)
Oh, I never noticed the 3D bit. Yay, so is that Cel-Shading or polygonal 3D?
I mean the ben johnson thingy. I posted it today, but it was just before it was posted here. I got it off IGN.
as far as I understand, it'll be exactly like the first Viewtiful Joe game (GameCube), but on a lower resolution. Probably they mean the 'layered' 3D style, not actual 3D-models.
I never got into to the Gamecube "Joes" myself. Maybe I'll give this one a shot...
Looks good, just like the 'cube.
I liked the anime :P never played the game though...
It is, it's still Cel Shaded, but not as, you know, smooth like dennis said. These screens are real nice. This is a definite buy for me!
looks nice
I wonder what the other screen will be used for.
I will get this now, now that i know it isnt sprites.
