DS Online Announced Later Today?

If we're to believe every rumour, sneak-peak and interview currently around, today is the day.

Over the last few months, the Nintendo DS was said to go online by one of Nintendo's own projects. When the project would be announced exactly always remained shrouded. Several interviews and sneak-peaks however are hinting at an announcement later today during mr. Iwata's keynote speech during the GDC in San Francisco (19:30 - 20:30 CET).

The first major hint comes from IGN. According to IGN, they "have heard that the keynote won't just offer mention of such a service, but will actually have interactive demonstration of the Nintendo DS' online functions with specific games that utilize the functions. These games will be revealed during Iwata's keynote speech".

Secondly, there is a recent interview with Reggie Fils-Aime done by 1UP. In the interview, 1UP asked Fils-Aime what mr. Iwata is about to say during his speech. Fils-Aime responds that Iwata is indeed going to talk about his experiences as a developer in the games industry, but will also talk about the Nintendo DS, wireless Internet gaming and Nintendo's commitment to this combined with the goal to bring it to life this year.

What we'll see exactly, we don't know. But if these stories are right, you could get the proof to play against the other readers of gba.n64europe.com and Cube-Europe in the near future.
