LucasArts Talks DualScreen
A German gamingwebsite reporting about a magazine from the UK holding an interview with LucasArts... Update: Probably bogus, if we're to believe C&VG. Update 2: We've traced the newspost back to a dodgy-looking source...
German gamingwebsite N-DS is reporting about something many oldschool gamers were hoping for: LucasArts games on the Nintendo DS. According the germans, the latest edition of NGC Magazines UK will hold an interview with LucasArts. The company is supposed to confirm that they're currently experimenting with porting Monkey Island 3 to the Nintendo DS. N-DS adds that LucasArts wasn't capable to state whether or not their games will appear on the DS and, if so, which games.
Update: Probably bogus, if we're to believe C&VG. Computer & Video Games decided to give NGC Magazine a call. According to them, the magazine did not even know they had an interview with LucasArts. However, in their own recent interview with LucasArts, it turned out that LucasArts is indeed looking at ways to expand into the handheld market.
Whether the story is completely bogus or LucasArts actually did mention something to an NGC journalist, C&VG doesn't know either.
Update 2: We've traced the newspost back to a dodgy-looking source... After C&VG's phone-adventure, we decided to trace back all possible sources too. Starting at N-DS.de, the source we used for this article, we got to Consolewars.de. Consolewars already makes the story sound as a rumour, however they didn't come up with the story either.
Going back another step, we end up on GameSpot's forums. Here, a newly registered user comes up with the 'breaking news'. Apart from the spelling errors in his post, the guy even throws in a few screenshots to make his story less creditworthy. To defend himself against the criticism from the other GameSpot forum members, 'Flamming' posts an email-reply from LucasArts. Apart from the misspelling of 'Lucas Arts', Flamming got his reply directly from Senior Director Production Services Atsuko Matsumoto.
So there we have it. The interview was most likely made up, as was the 'news' that LucasArts is working on porting a classic to the Nintendo DS. Fact is that LucasArts is looking into the DS, so not all hope is gone immediately...

wow... that was fast :|
OMG that rocks! I love the monkey island series, I was thinking that Lucasarts adventure games would run extremely well on the DS, that would be so cool. They should release a monkey island pack with MI 1+2+3 on the DS, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I'd rather see a new Sam'n'Max :P
Full Throttle was cool too.
Grim Fandango was one of my favorites, but it's not a point 'n clicker and it was sometimes really frustrating to control... So it propably wouldn't fit to the DS that well... Anyway, The Dig was kinda fun too! Hah...
don't blame the messenger, blame N-DS.de if this turns out not to be true.
Still, it would be nice if it were true.
I'm sorry for confusion caused by us. "Ger?cht" means rumor in English. We didn't want to spread out the rumor, we just got it from other pages (so we were not the origin of this rumor). And as a relatively new website we apologize for this mistake. So far it is just a rumor and I will update my site soon, because I think there is a lack of evidence for this rumor. Plus the fact that C&VG called the magazine. It was a simple misunderstanding and I hope it won't happen again.
oh well, it kept me busy for the day :)
It was good while it lasted...
