Megaton DS

Yes, that's right. Remember the so-called 'big announcement' that Nintendo was supposed to do a few years ago? The internet was hyping the various rumours and the 'megaton announcement' was born. Now it's time for new rumours...

It all started with this image posted on the Warp Pipe forums. We can see a dog and a boy playing his Nintendo DS in the woods. Various ideas already flooded various forums: "it's an animal crossing the path... Animal Crossing will be online!" and mentions of NintendoG were most common.

Then the pictures became a little more hyped when this image struck the net. If we look closely, we can see an S next to the D of 'find': DS (or: NDS) is clearly visible. Secondly, the face of the creature consists of a Nintendo DS on its side. Some people recognized the image from this original. The marionette (as the image is called) was according to the majority of people a small hint to Nintendo's previous plans for Mario Net, a game which was planned years ago but never saw the light. Will the game be released on the Nintendo DS, or does the artist of the game try to drop a hint on the 'net' part? According to the creator of this image, there is still more to see in this picture

Then Warp Pipe stepped in again. On the N-Sider forums, Chad Paulson posted this:

I'm so tired, I was at the office all weekend working. I can't wait... (you) (?) (?) (?) (?) becomes (you) (jon) (tushar) (jord) (tony) purog!!

'purog' can be descrambled to 'group'. Will the Nintendo DS be able to recognize different Nintendo DS units and maybe even give them a name? Compare this with an MSN contact list: you can add different people and the MSN client will be able to recognize the different people on the list. You can even form groups of people you like...

Time for yet another hint from our riddlemaster: the third image appeared. We can see a guy who lost his eyes, and somehow looks through the Nintendo DS. We can also see two words written on the touchscreen of the NDS: 'isolation' and 'anti' (mirrored). Again, this could hint to a more socialized Nintendo DS than we assumed. The guy isn't isolated with the Nintendo DS, he is capable of communicating.

Dean (the man behind the hints) did say that "You'll be all 'Ohhhhhh'. And it wont be at the Oct 7th conference. Not a mention of it." and we do know that Warp Pipe has to do with the announcement, but for now what this new Megaton-rumour will eventually become remains shrouded...
