  I'm not sure. Maybe the over the top presentation and levels will revitalise the series.

  What they really need to do is like Contra, Bionic Commando, Mortal Kombat and lots other titles by releasing a full 3D adventure game that completely sucked. Then due to heavy complain and fan demands bringing back classic 2D style and make their millions by taking a step back.
