Nintendo of Japan had 400.000 Nintendo 3DS units available for the release of the handheld last Friday. According to the Japanese newspapers, those 400.000 were all sold out within 24 hours.

Many stores already informed potential customers about the amounts of pre-orders and the expected shipments. Due to that, most people who didn't pre-order didn't even try to get a unit at this point in time, leaving us with little information about the well-known lines on the streets.

Nintendo of Japan expects to replenish their supply in the short-term, expecting to sell (at least) 1.500.000 units before the end of the quarter.

  • Have you guys checked out Ghost Recon? When I found out it was created by X-Com team I got really excited.

  • Rabbids was a bit... disappointing when I played the demo a few weeks ago. Monkey Ball is always a nice one, but that one isn't available straight at launch here.

  • I've mine pre-ordered. No way I wasn't going to pre-order given what happened with the Wii. Was 5th to get my order in so I'm sorted for the console. I hope. As for games, I'm waiting before I decide. Street Fighter 4 is the only definite. Super Monkey Ball, Samurai Warriors, etc. will wait until I hear whether they're worth it or not.

  • I would get Pilotwings if it was coming out here. But dam it- its not :( Street Fighter I'm probably going to go with, not sure- got Rabbids down for certain- just need another game.

  • Got mine secured too, still in doubt about any games. As for now, it's just Pilotwings :/

  • There was an article mentioning a couple got in line at 6AM and somehow walk out of the store with 2 units. The bliss of able to talk into the store of picking up a unit without pre-order must truly be great. Too bad I am not willing to risk my 3DS to attempt such bliss. I pre-ordered my from GameStop well over a month ago.

  • Not really. I was surprised by the fact that there weren't any long lines. Even though you know 99.9% is pre-ordered, people tend to stand in line to get at least a chance... or at least they used to.

  • Surprise(?)
