3DS Nintendo of Australia reveals 3DS details

Last night Nintendo of Australia revealed the anticipated details surrounding the 3DS. Eager fans in Australia will be glad to know NAL has finally revealed the release date, price and tour dates for the region.

Nintendo of Australia has revealed the system will launch on the 31st of March. The system will also retail for $349AUD. With New Zealanders to pay a premium of $453NZ, with the system also launching on the same day as in Australia.

Australia and New Zealand will also get the same colours which are launching in other regions. Aqua Blue and Cosmos Black.

During the press event Nintendo didn't discuss any launch titles, and continued to use the phrase 'launch window' for many titles which are expected to launch this year. Mentioned titles include the Nintendogs + Cats series of titles, Pilot Wings: Resort and Steel Diver also received a mention. Interesting enough titles such as The Legend of Zelda, are missing from any launch window discussion.

However its not all bleak news, with Nintendo of Australia planning a "National Tour", which includes both Australia and New Zealand. Kicking off in Sydney on the 10th (February), the tour will find its way across the nation over the coming months prior and after the systems launch.

From the 1st of March the tour will be in various locations across New Zealand as well. More information about the tours can be found on the official 3DS website.

  • DSE has an epic promotion which puts the AUD price under $300 + a game. Quite a good deal.

  • It works out cheaper than here in the UK (in a straight conversion of units) I believe as well so that's not something you see often. At least if you compare it to the big high street retailers who're not budging from £230 where all online stores have already knocked the extra 30 off.

  • Yeah same region. In some ways its a good price. Its around Yen price + local GST. Accuarly no- for a huge period recently everyone was heating up for it been $399. $349 is much better.

  • Australian and European units will be of the same region this time, right? It's about the price everyone expected, I guess.

  • For our Australian viewers, there are some great deals available even now appearing. BigW is offering the system with Rayman 3D + some Assessories for $348. As well as selling the system outright for $328. Other bargens of a simular nature can be had at Game Plus for $338 listed, but if you have the $10 credit still, it jacks it down to $328. These more cheaper prices are close to importing prices form the UK- however if you want to import its possibly better to get it from the USA- with the AUD been on par with the USD.
