Nintendo to limit Mii transfers
Nintendo has revealed that you will only be able to import Miis to your 3DS.
The Nintendo 3DS supports the option of importing your Miis from the Wii to your 3DS. Which means you can access all your friends and families Miis which you had on your Wii on your 3DS.
However you will not be able to transfer any of your 3DS Miis to the Wii. Nintendo has revealed that it will not be an option due to the 3DS offering a more detailed range of facial parts then the Wii version of the Mii software.

well, there might be a reason Nintendo chooses NOT to update te Mii channel. Updating would mean that some Mii's are compatible with Wii's that don't have the updated channel. Up to now, updates were always for a specific game or a downloadable channel. In the first case, the update is included on disc. People who get the game get the update. The second category is available for all who have their Wii hooked up on the Internet. Updating the Mii channel would no longer allow you to bring your Mii's to a friend (by a Wiimote!) who didn't update (eg due to not having a wifi connection AND not forcing him to update as he COULD have not bought a newer game yet). A loss of functionality (interoperability actually) could be the reason not to do this
Yes but with the Wii-2 it is very much guesses on when its coming- or if its coming at all. This generation is gearing up to be longer then most- and Nintendo could probably wait a few more years before flipping everyones had by making a console more powerful then most. Which means we will see the current Mii software for a long time- and why an update isn't just made is interesting.
That's good thing, that means the Mii creator on 3DS has a lot more parts. Nintendo could however offer an update on Wii's Mii Channel, however since Wii-2 is expected to be released toward the end of next year there is really no reason for them to do so.
