NDS Square Enix confirms PAL Dragon Quest: Wars

Square Enix today announced that Dragon Quest: Wars will be available to download via Nintendo DSiWare from October 2009.

Dragon Quest: Wars is a turn-based strategy game played out across a number of quick and challenging rounds. The player will pick four monster playing pieces to battle on their team, with Dragon Quest superstars Slime, Dracky, Hammerhood, Healslime, Chimaera and Golem all available to choose from. Played across a table-top style arena the ultimate aim of the game is to battle and defend against the opposing team to advance to the other side of the arena.

Dragon Quest: Wars will be available for download via DSiWare and will take advantage of the console's wireless communications. Up to four teams will be able to battle it out in the same arena using the Wireless function. Players will also be able to enjoy battles with anyone across the world using the Wi-Fi option, and the game's rating points system means gamers of all skill levels will be able to enjoy a competitive and challenging game.

Larry Sparks, Vice President Brands PAL Region of Square Enix Ltd. comments, "Dragon Quest: Wars is a great game for all ages and skills levels. Fans of the series will enjoy a pick-up-and-play Dragon Quest adventure featuring favourite monsters from the series, while newcomers will be captivated by the compelling gameplay and ease of use."

Dragon Quest: Wars will be available for 500 DSi points.

  • I mean the game play. Unlike most other RPG, DQ is known to have drastic difference between levels and creatures. I wonder if the computer AI is always set to attack your healer first, and healers in DQ world don't normally survive the first hit.
