We were right!
That's right, we were all right about the new GBA SP all along. But we weren't fast enough...
About a year after the launch of the original GBA (March 2002), people started thinking about a new GBA that should be developed. Not long after that, mos people claimed is was a fact that Nintendo was secretly building a follow-up. It took almost a year until Nintendo revealed its plans and introduced the GBA SP...
But when did it start? And how did it start? To tell you the truth, the rumours were true all the time. But the GBA SP was already in development when we started rumouring...
In an interview by a Japanese gamestation (name unknown since of the Japanese writing) with Mr. Ken-ichi Sugino (chief of the GBA SP design team), all fell into place. It seems that 3 months after the launch of the original GBA, Mr. Sugino got orders to develop a successor of it. 3 MONTHS! And all this time, they kept saying: "No, there's no need for a backlit GBA". Boy, were we fooled...
