Nintendo: Wii price cut out, Third party publishers in
The Wall Street Journal reports that a Wii price cut is off the board, but that Nintendo has serious intention of reaching out to third party publishers to develop games for their former, hardcore audience.
Nintendo, in order to further increase sales of Wii, is pushing to increase the number of Wii videogames made by outside publishers, including combat and sports titles that target serious players.
Our guy Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo's American Pres, said in an interview Tuesday he hoped to increase the percentage of games made by outside publishers to about 70 percent of the Wii's library of games, up from 55 percent now, reports The Wall Street Journal.

If they institude this policy last year PS3 would have been dead. So, is it good or bad that they didn't?
I doubt it. Didn't Nintendo only make like a dollar on every Wii sold? Manufacturingcosts haven't been dropping that much I think, so there wouldn't be much room to lower prices. Joystiq released its annual Nintendo Bingo card. Pretty much on that seems likely.
Nintendo makes $4-6 dollars operating profit on each Wii.
