ETC Minor site news

We already informed you about our recent server-problems, but there's more cooking behind the scenes.

In the recent past, the server DS-x2.com was hosted on showed some major problems. After being unavailable for almost a week, we decided to move the site to a brand new server which (at least until the moment of writing) seems to work perfectly.

During the past week, we've been brushing up DS-x2.com to make sure everything is working smooth again. We'd like to share a few of the outcomes with you:

  1. No more free blogs - One of the major reason behind the recent server crash was a problem with the free blogs we hosted. Since not many of our visitors actually used them, we decided to drop the feature. We apologize to those who did use the service.
  2. The forums are back online and received an update. All previous data was transferred and new styles have been added for your viewing pleasure. In case you registered an account in the past: all previously unused accounts have been removed as part of our in-house cleaning action.
  3. Old trusty old.ds-x2.com is gone. In the past, old.ds-x2.com allowed visitors who did not like the current design to read our latest content using a previous design (you can view some previous designs here and here). In case you'd really want us to re-install the previous software, please let us know through the contact-forms.
  4. The Broken Sword competition deadline has changed - Due to the server crash you lost some time to think of the correct answer and we lost the majority of previous entries. For that reason we decided to extend the deadline on entries. In case you submitted your entry before April 17, be sure to submit your answer again! The competition rules can be found here.

Furthermore, we'd like to diminish the distance between our audience (that's you) and ourselves. To do so, we'd like to ask you whether you would be interested in a chat-session during the weekend in which you get the chance to ask (or tell) us anything you want, and possibly meet some fellow DS-x2.com-fans at the same time. Please let us know what you think about this by leaving a comment below.

  • I didn't think most people used the blogs? Correct me if I'm wrong but it always seemed the same people who have "another post".

  • That's right. THere were about 20 blogs, but only 2 or so 'active'. Due to the problems with it, the decision was to remove them completely...

  • Maybe you should build the site more "forum like" with this comment system and then remove the forums as well?
