Legend of Zelda for Wii in 2009?

In the precarious game market, analyst cites Legend of Zelda offering on Wii a definite possibility next year.

Lazard Capital Markets' analyst Colin Sebastian is, by his own admission, reaching to include a new Zelda Wii title in his list of biggies to expect in 2009. While Nintendo confirms franchise projects are in the works for late 2009, no details have been released.

Reporting to investors, Colin Sebastian listed a slate of 22 games that could potentially help drive a 5 percent growth in sales for 2009. With much anticipated games like Resident Evil 5 and Starcraft II, Sebastian also included a new Princess Peach title and an unannounced Zelda game.

Sebastian was clear that a new Zelda title was pure speculation, but such a release makes sense in the current marketplace. With franchise titles in the works, let's hope Sebastian is right and we're all playing a new Legend of Zelda game this time next year.

  Still haven't finished Twilight Princess yet. Very close to the end, but too much distraction for me to finish it... curse you Fallout 3.

  I can say we won't be playing a new Zelda this time next year. We may perhaps see something of it but Miyamoto has said he won't be revealing anything too early prior to the games release as then the game won't live up to the hype, something that he notes some people thought with Twilight Princess. So we may see a little something something of the new Zelda at E3 but you never know.

  You know it is absolute garbage with what this guy is saying and he is basing it on absolutely no solid facts. Nintendo also wouldn't release Zelda without a teaser a year before release.

  As far I know, Miyamoto said in a old interview that a new Zelda for Wii was in development since early 2006. Twilight Princess for Gamecube was ready in late 2005, they released it in late 2006 only because they ported it to Wii.
