Dengeki Online Gets the Japanese Thoughts on the DSi
The Nintendo DSi will be released this Saturday in Japan, for a hefty price, and Dengeki Online has polled a majority of its Japanese readers to get their opinions; the results don't seem good for Nintendo.
Dengeki Online recently found out what a majority of its Japanese readers think of the DSi and exactly how many of them will purchase it and when they will, the results of the survey do not look good for Nintendo.
Results of Poll Regarding DSi Purchase:
'¢ 3.6% said they would purchase the DSi soon '¢ 29.4% said they will wait and see how the DSi turns out before buying '¢ 26.2% were undecided '¢ 40.7%, the largest majority, said that they wouldn't be purchasing the Nintendo DSi at all
Although these results don't actually represent the whole of Japan it does give a good estimate of what to expect within sales.
Along with the above results online readers were also polled on what they thought was the best feature of the DSi and here are the results:
'¢ Screen size 30.8% '¢ The DSi hardware 29.5% '¢ DSi Camera 15.1% '¢ DSi Sound 11.6% '¢ SD card slot 3.4%
81.4% of those who took part in the poll were male while the remaining 18.6% were female, with the average age at 26.28 years.
So could the Nintendo DSi be looking at a rough time ahead?

I honestly don't find these results startling at all, especially with many in Japan already owning a DS Lite.
I have an original DS so I'll probably upgrade to this one.
Still on the original eh? Guess my strategy will be the same as last time with the introduction of DS Lite: wait till summer, upgrade and give away the old one to a new gamer :) (last time: my mother)
The DSi needs to get some unique software that makes good use of its abilities and good downloadable games to get people to make the switch.
the DSi shop might be enough for that
I have both original Grey DS and White DSLite. The original DS has better d-pad, so that's my action game DS, where as DS Lite is smaller and brighter, so it's perfect as my RPG DS. DSi is going outside of their core competency, it's going away from the gamin' population. I hope DSi won't be the downfall of Nintendo.
