ALL DS-x2 Needs Staffers

Wanted: people interested in the Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance or Wii scene and willing to share their findings.

People come and go, but DS-x2 remains. And hence why we're always looking for new flesh to strengthen our news team. At the moment we're looking for multiple individuals willing to join the DS-x2 staff.

What are we looking for?

Newsposters for DS-x2 Newsposters at DS-x2 need to be updated on the Wii, Nintendo DS or Game Boy Advance scene by themselves. Regularly, preferably on a daily basis, you can find the time to write a decent newsarticle based on the latest happenings and announcements. Of course news also comes with images. Screenshots, photographs and more. For this reason you also need to be able to edit images. Do you know how to use a graphical application? Can you resize images? Remove annoying borders from screenshots? Can you put a watermark on an image?

If you recognize yourself in the above, please continue reading and answer the following questions for yourself: - Is this just a fling, or do I really want to join the site and keep working on it for a decent time? - Can I actually bring in content, or did I always find all my daily news right here? - Do I write decent English, or can I only write in txtspk, l33t or EvEn WorSeOMGWTF? - Do I know basic HTML? Do I know the codes to make text bold, add a hyperlink or even place an image? - Would I be interested even if I would not get paid? - Can I write Dennis an email at: recruitment@ds-x2.com?

If, and only if, all of your answers to the above were "yes" please drop us a line at recruitment@ds-x2.com. If possible, supply a sample article on any Nintendo-related topic you prefer with your application.

  • See. Funny thing is I can answer yes to most of those questions except the one about basic HTML and making things bold using the right codes and placing images. I presume for bold typing you'd just do or something similar to that. As for the image posting, well I know very little about HTML. I can hotlink as thats easy. If only I knew how to do the images and stuff.

  • The HTML part is something that's pretty easy to learn, especially if you're already familiar with UBB-tags (in HTML it's "<b>...</b>") The site is run using a custom-build CMS (also used for uploading the images and all). I think I haven't encountered anyone yet who wasn't capable of getting used to it, so I wouldn't think that'd be a big issue. Main point should be interest in the gaming scene and willingly to write on a regular basis.

  • I knew nothing about html before joining.

  • Watermark is the only problem for me, and I could figure that out very easily I'd imagine.

    trainftw, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • yep. Watermarking is pretty simple to do. All you need is photoshop. Did similar stuff for an art project where I had to layer wording onto pictures for a personal study, so its very simple.

  • At Ds-x2, we have a system where it auto-watermarks any screenshots/images, so you don't even need to really worry about that =)

  • I would, like I have said, love to take on a job as a staffmember here. The only thing is that I enjoy entering your competitions and so with that I would say no to it. However, if you have seen my news posting through the forums, I'd be more than happy to supply you guys with news through the forums and such.

    ganepark32, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • Well if you want to see it on the front page, we would prefer you submit news to the news-submit. http://www.ds-x2.com/contact.php?type=news

    NPC, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • @ NPC Sometimes its just quicker to do it through the forum. And anyway, we should be working on getting the forum to a wider audience and getting more people in there. If I post news stories in there that aren't covered on the main page, then more people are likely to enter the forums. It's a clever ploy by myself.

    ganepark32, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • wow i havnt talked to some of you guys in ages but yeah i am intrested. i know some of the basic HTML and i am willing to learn more. i keep tabs on this stuff alot too when im not busy watching tokusatsu or in class or something.

    jedibmoney, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • watermark problem

    swifttiger, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • Hey jedibmoney! Long time no see indeed. Good to have you back ;) To all: the watermarking isn't your main worry. Like Ben explains above, there's an option in our content management system nowadays to do that for you. Only thing you have to be able to do is resize and crop images (not even always necessary). Feel free to apply, as we do not have a lot of active staffmembers left nowadays. We could really need your help.

    Dennis, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • good thing i have photoshop.

    jedibmoney, 30-11--0001 at 00:00

    fat-starr, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • I agree with ganepark32, cause the forums do really attract the eye, especially if they have a cathching title! ;)
