NDS Nintendo Adds Magnetism To Control Methods

We've got the traditional controllers, the DS's stylus, voice input and the Wiimote. Is that enough for Nintendo? Apparently not, as now we'll be playing with magnetism.

According to our colleagues from 1UP, Nintendo is currently planning to release a new Nintendo DS title with a very unique user interface: Slide Adventure Magkid will make use of a so-called "slide controller".

The slide controller is described as an add-on which can be plugged into the GBA port of the Nintendo DS. As 1UP describes, "players hold the DS afloat, while part of the slide controller is on a surface, such as your desk. As the DS moves around, the main character supposedly moves accordingly".

While the situation above still sounds a bit vague, we're positive we'll hear more about it in the near future.

  • Sort the Kirby game? Where there is a metal ball inside the cartridge that detects the rolling motions (which later used in Wario games). I am waiting for the motion control attachment for DS to be release. If that module exists, then gamers can fully use DS as Wii controller. Three screens, motion control, touch control, voice control, and old fashion button control.
