ETC And We're Back (Again)

Ten hours of not being able to visit DS-x2, what a terrible start of the weekend. However, the downtime was more-or-less planned. Update If you thought 10 hours was long, what about 48 hours without DS-x2?

This night, our hosting company has successfully transferred the entire DS-x2 site (including all subsites such as blogs.ds-x2.com and our downloads-server) to a brand new sparkling server. This time, we hope the new server won't require us to restart it almost once a day to prevent smoking coming from its vents.

Although the transfer was planned, the downtime was not supposed to be this long. The old server was supposed to stay online for about a week, so everyone's PC would have all the time they'd need to update to the new DNS. For some reason, that part didn't go as planned.

At the moment, most of the functionalities are back online. The newssite is working again, you're able to register your own free DS-x2 blog (or browse the others) and you can even visit us using Nintendo-x2.com again (bet you didn't even know about that one). So, what's left? Our forums appear to be non-functional to most, the Wii-x2 redirective is wondering off to an unknown place and we can't read our email for some unexplained reason.

We hope you didn't experience much trouble visiting us once more, and will do our best to get things back to top-performance once more.

Update If you thought 10 hours was long, what about 48 hours without DS-x2?

Although we really did our best, not even the people behind DS-x2 can solve every problem. Apparently 2 out of the 6 nameservers that allow your PC to find the exact location of DS-x2 didn't function properly and redirected you to our old place. Normally, the entries of these nameservers are updated globally within a day, but in our case the nameservers weren't updated at all.

This night, the nameservers were updated manually, which should (in theory) allow you all back into our new shiny place on the internet. Welcome back all!

  • Well, ironically I did manage to get the boards back up-and-running (enjoy), yet now the Nintendo-x2.com directive doesn't work anymore :/ Comments-section is fixed again too :)

  • I was having problems all day. The front page finally loaded earlier today and I saw this post... but then the site went unresponsive again. Works now! Funny part is DS-X2 and Kotaku went down at the same time. For a second I couldn't breathe. :P

  • Good thing my work place has 9 servers and 2 test servers. Project transfering is quiet easy when you have 11 static IP servers to work with.
