WII European Virtual Console Fridays - 5th January

Nintendo of Europe has once again updated the Shopping Channel. Two new Virtual Console titles available for download to European Wii systems. Lowdown inside.

As every friday, Nintendo of Europe has updated the Wii's Shopping Channel by adding new downloadable Virtual Console titles to the list. This week, a mere two titles became available: the classic Super Mario Bros. and the lesser known TurboGrafx game - Motoroader.

NES Super Mario Bros. Well, if you are at this site, the chances are you have played this phenomenon in video gaming that is Super Mario Bros, all the way back on the NES. The game saw a remake on the GBA, a sequel where, up until Super Mario All-Stars for SNES, never released in any region except Japan. Surely you know what it is about, you play as a mustachioed plumber by the name of Mario and run and jump (and fire) through 8 worlds of classic platforming, to recue the Princess from the evil King Koopa. One problem we do have is the European version of the game does have borders, runs slower, and can look bad on many HDTV's compared to the US version of the game, something Nintendo could have easily fixed. If you can put aside these problems, then we reccomend spending 500 Wii Points on this NES classic today!

TurboGrafx/PCE Motoroader The lesser known title this week is Motoroader, as the name suggests it is a racing game (with upto 5 players did you know?) which see's you racing in various tracks while trying to take down the competition. The game is presented in a top-down view so you can see the position of all the racers. While the game lacks in the single player department, it more than makes up for it in the multiplayer department. We reccomend this if you always have friends round who love to play classic racers, and of course if you can spare 600 Wii Points.

Thats all for this week, personally a little bit dissapointed, as we didn't even get one SNES game or Mega Drive game. 2 titles a week is a bit lackluster compared to what we got the previous weeks. Ah well, keep it at DS-X2 for everything Wii.
