Konami Announces Elebits for Revolution
Latest news on Revolution straight from Japanese publication Famitsu, this time on a title by the name of Elebits.
From Cubed3: "
In the game, players have to roam around the world trying to get their hands on strange little creatures called 'Elebits', which are hidden in various locations. These Elebits are extremely small, but are extremely important as they are actually the main source of energy in the actual gaming world! So far it has been revealed via IGN Revolution that the 'Ele' part stands for electricity, whilst the 'Bits' is meant to signify the tiny nature of the creatures. The more of them that you find, the more the world around you will slowly begin to evolve, but it will be quite a task to try and locate them all as they are terribly elusive, increasing the overall challenge.
Mukaitouge-san was actually interviewed in this latest issue of Famitsu, stating that the design plan behind Elebits is three-fold. The aim was to let the player feel as if they were indeed inside the screen controlling the action, that they could move things around to find stuff and discover the new Konami creations, the Elebits themselves.
The Revolution's controller is integral to the experience, as is strongly evident in the first two stages that were discussed. Konami was extremely keen to create something that could not easily be mimicked on a standard controller, for systems such as the PlayStation 3 and/or XBOX 360. Being able to move objects in real-time just by moving the controller around is something special indeed.
Konami is currently beavering away at perfecting the one-player experience, with some stages being simple ten minute affairs, whilst hardcore gamers will be kept enraptured due to the wealth of secret content. Once this single-player mode has been sufficiently dealt with during the development process, though, Konami is planning on taking a look at implementing network functionality!"
