NDS Final Fantasy III - Sells Half Million

In just five days, the highly anticipated Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS managed to sell over half a million units in Japan.

Expecting only 350,00 to be sold, Square-Enix must have been shocked to find out that already half a million units are in the hands of happy owners. Earlier reports show that on the night of its release, Final Fantasy III managed to draw crowds out into waiting lines and sell around 309,000 titles. The more attractive Limited Edition DS Lite bundle managed to sell out completely in Japan on its first day.

Fortunately, for the rest of us that are outside of Japanese borders, maybe Square-Enix will decide to ship more untis so we won't have to go through the worry of it being sold out. Will this be the title to surpass Animal Crossing sales? Only time will tell...

  • I have been busy at work for the past few weeks so I missed out on a lot of news. It would be much appriciated if anyone could inform me as to when the US or the Europe version would be released. For the record, I do not consider a remake a "real" game. It is just an extension to another game.

  • Only half million? I thought it should sell more than 1 million a week, like FF on Playstation console... Maybe it is because of all the non-gamers that has Nintendo DS?

  • Woo hoo!!! And that's only in Japan!! Could it possibly beat the record holding Halo 2 of selling more than a million in a day when it's released in the US of A?? I think so...
