EA Enhances DS Efforts
EA finally aknowledges that the PSP is behind the DS, and has plans to push the effort behind DS games.
MCV had the chance to interview David Gardner, who is EA's Executive Vice President and COO of Worldwide Studios. After this interview, one might re-think the "godly" support Sony has.
'œThere's no doubt that EA has historically bet more on PSP. I think we were excited by the technology, but the consumers have proven that actually what they want is fun. We must never forget that what we need to focus on is fun and so EA is putting more effort behind DS games : and creative ones that really take advantage of the hardware.'?
The last line should make all DS owners proud and happy!

I noticed once I saw the screenshots for the new Need for speed, I think this one might be good!
LOL! thats exactly what i thought! and now i know why. :]
Although I do like this, EA games usually tend to sell better on the PSP than the DS. Even if this is a good thing for us DS owners, it might be a bad thing business wise. On a side note, NCAA 2007 was a let down for the PSP...
Pshh...Typical, they go to what's safe and popular...
Let's just hope they make decent games for DS rather than bring shame to DS like all of the racing games on DS.
This statement sums out the ignoranence from EA, its inability to just say sorry straight out, and the reason I dislike them.
LSG- Like ALL racing games? I loved Asphalt GT.
@Ali's first post. Because the DS is more popular and not entirely EA friendly, this will force them to produce quality over quanity.
..quality over quanity.. that doesnt sound like EA ;) Well, but its a very good thing.. maybe we will get more Mainstream-People buy an DS this way, pushing the sales further up, so more and more publishers and more and more games will come.. and surely more High-Quality-Games like Final Fantasy 3, Dragon Quest and so on =) Goodbye Sony, btw ;)
@ NPC- That's great and all (it's high time DS gets some top notch games from EA), but once again, IT WILL NOT SELL. EA has made a bad name for themselves on the DS with their previous games [on the DS], so lots of DS owners may not give EA a[nother] chance.
HiiHii. EA supports DS. Yes, it is now proven, they will go anywhere and do anything they think they'll make money on. Ali, yes good point. however, some people will just keep on buying EA stuff because it's popular. In fact, most mainstreamers will, I think.
Yep yep, yakutatazu is mostly right. The general public will pay attention to the franchise name and not the publisher. While internet savy people pay attention to word of mouth and various reviewer scores(which I'm counting will overrule the "EA sux!" mentality anyday).
Yeah, I guess you guys have a point as well.
"EA finally aknowledges that the PSP is behind the DS" sad that not so many developers are aware of that: probably because if you program a game for the PSP you have licenses discount on PS2 by Sony. P.S.: I hate Electronic Arts too for its very mainstream target. It is like all the hollywood major.
Yeah, thats what its like today.. Fastfood food, fastfood movies, fastfood games. If you go to Mc Donnalds and eat a burger, you pay for it, and while you eat it tastes okay, but as soon as you swallowed the last piece of it, its gone and forgotten. No satisfaction in your stomache, no taste left on your tongue and nothing to remember in your memory. With fastfood Movies and Games its just the same.. but still EA uses its money from the huge load of fastfood games to release some real gems from time to time. Like Battle for Middle-Earth for example. And beside this I think we all will profit from more mainstream-people buying DS, because it will surely bring more publishers to increase their efforts on DS-Games. Of course there will be more mainstream-stuff, but also more realy good games and maybe more interesting projects like Brain Training, Another Code or Electroplankton. Gogo, Nintendo ^_^
The only game released by EA that i liked in the last 15 years is Timesplitters 3, and wasn't internally developed.
