DS Lite Pre-Orders Not Genuine Pre-Orders?

According to one of our readers, GameStop and EB Games might be pulling a trick on DS Lite pre-orders.

One of our readers, Darkuni (known from Monroeworld), told us about a somewhat dodgy finding:

  According to one of your readers the guy is an idiot. No need to fear. Anyone who preordered a DS Lite is guaranteed theres for the 48 hour hold period on reservation items at GameStop/EBGames.. Whoever his "informant" was.. does not even work for the company. I can tell you there is nothing to be worried about and this "Darkuni" guy is a retard.

  I'm curious if anyone else's store will comment on it. My source obviously didn't want to be named, but assured me that she, like so many other stores, would indeed honor the preorders - but I could see EB Games in malls and specialty shops throwing preorders into the wind ...

  It's all the better for me, I never pre-order. Although it's a pretty bad blow for the people who did. What's the point of pre-ordering if you don't get a guranteed game/system.

  That's why my store assured me they wouldn't do it - they actually CARE about the customer. My GUESS is that they don't have enough to make preorders in large areas ANYWAY, so they figure, make it open season. I'll be curious to get the post launch day emails...

  The state of(most) Game stores in America are ridiculus. Everyone complains about them. Nintendo needs to build more of their own stores like Nintendo world. That would be nice.

  I've got a friend who worked for Game in the UK, and one of the things that made him leave was being told to sell consoles on first come first served basis, regardless of waiting list.

  Ummm... No. I receieved the information from a MANAGER at Gamestop. The information is accurate. Maybe pezradar you aren't high enough in the register jockey ranks to be privvy to the information? And I've already had one guy tell me that Gamestop called him THREE TIMES to tell him to come get it TODAY or they would sell it out from under him. So much for me helping the ingrates any more. Pfft.

  Darkuni, how about the people that have already pre-ordered? The pre-order option for NDS Lite was available for some time now.
