NDS MAX 4GB Media Player

Datel to release the first DS media player with 4GB expansion cartridge, but at a hefty price.

Datel has revealed that they plan to release a media player for the Nintendo DS, which includes a 4GB hard drive unit that plugs into GBA cartridge slot. By connecting your PC to the 4GB hard drive, you can use the Media Manager PC application to transfer your media to that hard drive. It's that simple, the program takes what measures needed to convert the media to play on the MAX Media Player and then it will be ready for on the go movies, music, and more all on your DS! MAX Media Player uses the USB 2.0 protocol and comes out in late March at a hefty price of £129. However, it may be worth it to those who do want multi-media functions on your DS and don't have any other alternative portable media players to take with you wherever you go.

Here is a picture showing you everything that is included in the package:

  • Just tell me when it's out, I will buy it in a heart beat. I am already saving up money for Nintendo REV, looks like I will need another account for this.

  • Just for those people who didn't already know, GBA already has these function. Just have to spend $5 (South Eastern Asia) ~ $80 (Europe) to buy an empty cartridge, and you may burn text, MP3, AVI, JPG... and a lot of the format of files onto the cartridge to be played on GBA. Of course it is also used to burn ROM onto the empty cartridge for many Chinese player whom can purchase these cartridges cheaply.

  • It's like...buying a dual screened 4GB Ipod video. >_> BTW the current exchange rate is: 129 Euro = 153.504 US Dollar

  • Converting pound to USD, it would cost roughly $186. With fees for import, Trinest is close with the $200 mark. But, it seems you can only convert media files into DS format, and store them onto the hard drive. It seems you won't be able to use it like a USB flash drive that can store anything. Also, I don't think MAX has the module for video compression technology that was developed for DS (to be used in Archaic Sealed Heat), so the media would be slightly larger than the original files.

  • Or you could buy an M3 for $100 USD, play NDS Games, Homebrew, Movies, Pictures, Music, Books, and more WITH UPGRADABLE SD/CF MEMORY. Cheaper + Upgradable. M3 > MAXMP

  • wait.. wait.. wait.. i didnt quite understand that can this play actual movies? or little cheap shows

    darkshadow61, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • actual movies its like what the psp does but better

    fat-starr, 30-11--0001 at 00:00
  • I though M3 have some problem, that they are only re-usable upto x many times. Eventually the EEPROM will wear out and won't allow anything to be added anymore. Also, I don't think you can purchase those in The State due to legal reason, it has to be imported.

  • This is awesome. I hope they release something similar in the USA, but cheaper. :)
