Tetris WiFi Announced.
Today Nintendo announced a new tetris title for the Nintendo DS. Check inside for the details. Update First two screenshots added.
The long blue bar. The yellow block. And those darn zigzag things whose images stay on your brain. These familiar Tetris shapes started a generation of video game fans. Now Nintendo is putting a new spin on the classic with Tetris DS, available March 20 exclusively for Nintendo DS, which incorporates the use of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, Nintendo's wireless gaming service.
Hard-core and casual gamers alike became obsessed with the original. Tetris DS builds on that emotional attachment by combining the original game with new types of game play that could only be possible on Nintendo DS.
Each of the six modes of play features a theme based on a classic Nintendo game, such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda or Metroid. The traditional Tetriminos (falling blocks) and line-clearing strategy remain the staples of the game, but the touch screen adds a new element of interactivity.
Some modes give players special Tetris puzzles to solve. Others feature head-to-head action between two players, or massive wireless battles between 10 DS users, even if only one player has a game card. Players also can log onto Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to compete in two- or four-player battles. Tetris DS even includes a point-based rating system based on players' battle results. Opponents can see one another's ratings, which indicate their skill levels.
Every gamer, whether competitive or casual, will find a way to reconnect with one of the most popular puzzle games in history.

i cant wait for this, i dont care if it isn't a budget title, i love tatris, and wi-fi OMG this is gonna be awesome

Holy crap! This came out of nowhere! AND it's awsome looking! But the important thing is that it's really simple, and that should get more people interested in using Nintendo DS wifi!
dang it looks like you can play up to ten people!
and you can use wi-fi even if you dont have the caterage.
@ trinest: I don't see anything in there regarding no cart and Wi-Fi. I'll look it over again though.

Hey, everyone look at the first screenshot. On the top screen, it looks like a mini game of some sort. I wonder how that would work..

wow a lot of people play at once, that's cool but i never liked tetris. tetris attack is way better :D
Lemmines is better :P Man that PSP game is adictive.
The Nintendo theme to this tetris, makes it great, but seriously, Lumines is abit easy compared to Tetris in my view. Might get it within 3 years, when its in the bargin bin, and when the online servers are shut down :D

I hate it how it goes down many times in a week. Someone except Dennis posts a news story and it either has a couple of spelling mistakes or just some kind of wrong information. Then I comment about it and after a while the whole news story has been rewritten to a whole new kind and then when people see the comment I made on the original news story they don't ever get to know what the hell I was talking about. =P

I've never played a Tetris game since the Gameboy original but I have to admit I'm looking forward to this. It sounds great...

Huh and to think i just bought my mom Tetris Worlds for Christmas.
Umm... IGN is talking about a beefed-up version of the original Tetris, you're talking about a successor to it. Kind of hard to believe that the game would actually be Tetris 3 or something like that, but of course I'm still hoping for it. ...Either way, it's gonna be released pretty soon. This was a nice surprise.
