New Zelda DS Tidbits

In the latest edition of EGM, Eiji Aonuma revealed some new tidbits on the upcoming Zelda game for the Nintendo DS.

In the magazine EGM, Eiji Aonuma discloses that the upcoming Zelda game will not simply be a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords, but will be a game which will make fully use of the touch screen.

Aonuma also confirms that, due to an entirely new control system, the game will be an totally new experience for players of the Zelda series: the player will be able to use the touch screen to touch and directly manipulate objects throughout the game. Whether we can think about pulling switches or poking Zelda herself, remains unknown for the moment.

  It's a good idea, but I just wish they would stop milking the old cow, squeeze the last drop of money they can get out of already existing games. I want to see some brand new series instead of endless sequels and prequels.

You just skimmed through and saw the italicized letters didn't you? :P Dang it Nintendo, just give me a traditional 3D Zelda for the DS, I don't want to freaking touch Gannon. I can't believe Nintendo is this blind, DS is the PERFECT system for Zelda: action could be displayed on the top screen and the inventory screen on the touch screen, with item-switching on the go. DS + Zelda = match made in heaven, but this is just wrong...

  While a 3d zelda on ds would be fine, 2d =/= bad quality as some seem to think. 2d is simply a different philosphy.

  @ chris_michael: You are 100% correct about that. I am DESPERATE for a cool 3D Zelda on DS, not another 2D one for a system that's PERFECTLY capable of doing these things. A Master Sword Stylus free with each copy? Now THAT would be cool.
