ETC Nintendo of Europe Connected

Nintendo of Europe created a continent-covering network. Unfortunately it's not intended for us...

Nintendo of Europe has implemented an Interoute Virtual Private Network (VPN) to connect all European locations. Within the short six-week timeframe, which included migration and testing, Interoute was able to provide a managed VPN based on MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) which will now enable Nintendo to securely process all its internal and external communications, as well as its complete ordering and delivery services at all its European locations, via the Interoute network.

The new solution provides Nintendo with greater availability, better performance as well as improved efficiency. The option to implement end-to-end COS (Classes of Service) will also provide further cost saving opportunities. In the future, there are plans to integrate voice services, including Voice-over-IP, into the network. This will allow the migration of data, voice and other functions such as video conferencing on one platform.

"Nintendo requires a dependable and dynamic partner for its data infrastructure across Europe," said Klaus Mirl, Manager Information Services Nintendo of Europe GmbH. "Interoute proved to be especially flexible in handling our needs while its sustainable concept and economically attractive offer gave it an edge over numerous competitors. Despite the tight implementation schedule, the project proceeded in an exemplary fashion, without problems or worries. We are sure to have made the right decision."

Jens Leuchters, Interoute Country Manager said: "Last year, Interoute took the strategic decision to specifically target large enterprises. Gaining Nintendo as a customer reassures us that this expansion of our strategy was the right choice. Our flexibility, coupled with our technical expertise were able to convince them. Another positive factor was our ability to quickly and reliably fulfill customer requests."

Now, that the Nintendo staff got themselves a big network, maybe it's time to start working on the Nintendo DS's network as well.
