GBA Nintendo Platform Sales Figures

Nintendo has released a few numbers representing the amounts of games and handhelds sold worldwide...

We all know that the GameBoy Advance was extremely popular. We also know that the Nintendo DS isn't doing too shabby either. But did anyone know how well these platforms were doing really? Now we do.

Since its release in November 2004 (just over half a year ago), the Nintendo DS sold over 5.27 million units worldwide. 1.72 million units of these were sold in the United States alone. As for DS games, 10.49 million games got sold (2.75 million in the US). This means that the DS gamer possesses a mere 2 games on average.

The GameBoy Advance did better: 66.79 million units sold worldwide (28.5 million in the US alone), with over 268.36 million games (117.2 in the US). This means that in the US the average GBA-gamer possesses about 5 games, while the other GBA-gamers only have 4 games on average.

  • Games releases are slow for Nintendo platform, that's always been their prob! Sort that out and DS will sell out outside Japan as well.
