Reggie Fils-Aime Speaks
Club Nintendo had an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime, there's some interesting stuff in here...
The official Nintendo magazine of Mexico had an exclusive interview with Reggie Fils-Aime. In the interview, Reggie spoke about the GameBoy Evolution, the Revolution and many other things.
First of all, Club Nintendo asked Reggie whether the rumours about the GameBoy Evolution were true or not. Reggie answered that Nintendo is always working on new gaming systems, such as the Revolution console. He also admitted that Nintendo is indeed working on a successor of the GameBoy Advance, however he was not able to say anything about a name or launchdate. He did add that Nintendo is always looking to include some innovative concepts though.
Next, Club Nintendo asked about the online strategy of Nintendo. Reggie answered that Nintendo will be speaking about 'online' during the upcoming E3 event in L.A. He also said that Nintendo will surely give some information about online play before the show. However, no platform was mentioned. While the Nintendo DS is the most likely platform to work on online features, it is possible that Reggie was aiming at the Revolution instead.
Club Nintendo moved on to 'mature' games: Will Nintendo think about more 'teen' and 'mature'-rated games? Fils-Aime admits that the success of Resident Evil for the GameCube has opened the eyes of Iwata and Miyamoto; this type of games can be successful on the Nintendo platforms and will be supported through licencees. In the meantime, Nintendo will keep loyal to the 'original' titles such as Mario, Metroid, Donkey Kong, etc.
And last but not least the Nintendo Revolution: will it be shown during the E3 event? The answer of Reggie Fils-Aime was short but simple: Yes, the Nintendo Revolution will be shown at E3. Whether the console would be playable or not was still kept a secret, since the gaming world is harsh due to competitors stealing ideas on the fly.
