Sonic DS Based On Sonic Demo

Finally some official words on the Sonic DS title...

The Nintendo Official Magazine (N.O.M.) reports that Sega's Yuki Naka revealed a few minor details on their next Sonic games. Naka declared that Sega is working on a new GameCube game and that the Nintendo DS title (Sonic DS) will be based on the playable demo shown at E3 2004.

Whether the "based on the demo" means the main activity in Sonic DS will be rubbing the screen to make Sonic run faster, remains unknown for now.

In the next issue of N.O.M., a larger interview with Yuki Naka will be published, probably holding more information.

  Come to think of it, Sonic DS is gonna be shown at this year's E3. Not only does that crush the March release dates other gaming sites have been reporting, but it also means that if this game is only about rubbing Sonic through preset courses, then the team working on it had a whole year of doing next to nothing.
