WIIU Football issues on Wii U

Two of the most popular football (or: soccer) titles in the news today, but neither of them in a good way: FIFA 13 and PES for Wii U.

Today isn't a good day for football fans looking forward to buying a Wii U and hoping to play their favorite football title on said new console. Both FIFA 13 and PES fans might be (slightly) disappointed today, as the latest on both football franchises turn out to be unhappy news.

FIFA 13 without Touch Ball Control

In an interview with Eurogamer, EA producer Matt Prior states that the Wii U version of FIFA 13 is lacking the new Touch Ball Control feature. This new technology by EA Sports would take care of more realistic controlling of the ball: bad passes for example are harder to actually control.

Also, the FIFA Street Skill System and FIFA Ultimate Team are absent in the Wii U version. The latter simply because "Nintendo's online offering is still in its infancy". Prior also gives a reason for the features to be absent: the development team had to spend 80% of their time on getting FIFA to run on the new platform, rather than building on top of an existing version.

Pro Evolution Soccer: not yet

More football news comes from EA's direct competitor on this field: Konami. Konami's brand manager Tim Blair claims in an interview that Konami currently has no plans to bring the PES-series to Wii U. The reason for that is pretty straightforward: the developers are still trying to figure out exactly how to benefit from the Wii U's new features and see how these features will benefit the next PES-title.
