Nintendo books first annual loss ever
For the first time ever, Nintendo had to take a loss at the end of its fiscal year
At the end of the fiscal year, Nintendo had to close its books with a loss, the first ever in Nintendo's lifespan. According to the reports, the cause of the loss can be found in diminishing sales of both Wii and Nintendo 3DS (down by 36%). However, Nintendo still believes in better results with the upcoming Wii U and the Nintendo Network (the online service of Wii U).
Another reason, out of Nintendo's reach, is the strong position of the Japanese yen. Because of their "strong" currency, Nintendo's exported goods are more expensive for other countries resulting in a lower amount of sales.
