Renegade Kid ponders an FPS for the 3DS
While they're currently storming the US eShop with Mutant Mudds, Renegade Kid are far better known for their FPS's (Dementium I and II, Moon) and it's clear that they know their stuff when it comes to this genre. In a recent interview with Spanish site Game Reactor Jools Watsham expains his vision for a 3DS FPS.
Obviousley there is a huge gap in the market here especially since Activision/n-Space failed to deliver a 3DS version of Call of Duty last year and instead stuck with the tried and tested DS. Jools Watsham explained that he would very much like to return to Dementium (or Moon) although this was dependent on interest from publisher Southpeak who would make the final decision. The other idea is to make a retail-like FPS for the now favoured eShop.
Watsham went on to say:
"The 3DS is more powerful than the DS. The 3D experience would be incredible, Dementium is the atmosphere, darkness, sound ... all that would be better in the 3DS. The lighting would be awesome, shading, detail and textures would be very rich ... See Resident Evil ! It's amazing when I saw him I thought 'oh, there would be Dementium amazing!'
"Southpeak depends. They have the rights to the sequels. However, we are keen to make our own FPS for 3DS. We're crazy for doing it. Whether or not related to Dementium or Moon, we are thinking of doing something completely new and launch a game of scale retail [sold in box] ... but in the eShop. One of the things that I'd love: a full FPS for 3DS, but throw in the eShop, perhaps 10 or 15 euros, or something."
