Philip:
So there we have it. Another goodlooking game which is destined to die without being noticed, because some company bought the publishing rights and doesn't see opportunities.Prograph Research has confirmed with me that both the GP Advance F1 racing title and their amazing 3D engine DR Advance has been canceled due to no interest from publishers, which is mainly because of Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe's (SCEE) 4 year exclusive rights agreement with the Formula One Administration (FOA). The SCEE's contract with FOA has stopped the creation of all Formula 1 titles on consoles other then Sony PlayStation 2, even though the SCEE has no plans to publish games for consoles other then Sony consoles. This means there will be no F1 titles on the Nintendo GameBoy, Nintendo Game Cube, Microsoft X-Box or PC platforms until the year 2007.
I am a part of the simulation racing online community, which is not happy that there will be no new F1 simulations for PC or any non Sony platform until 2007. I am in contact currently with the SCEE and attempting to gain contact to a public relations representative of the FOA. I have decided to create a petition suggesting that the SCEE should give up it's exclusive rights, but only requesting them to do that for the consoles they do not plan to release their formula 1 titles on to. I also believe that the FOA should do this change for marketing reasons, because they are now limiting their potential for a wider audience. If you would like to add your name to the list of supporters to have the SCEE make a new agreement with the FOA to at least change the exclusive contract's effects on consoles SCEE will not be releasing titles for, please visit http://www.petitiononline.com/F1games and register your opinion today. The petition signing will end on January 31st, 2004 and will be submitted to the SCEE and FOA in paper and electronic document form in early February 2004.
Let's say we give Philip a hand and sign the petition!
