According to Famitsu, Nintendo could be planning a Bandai-takeover.

Nintendo Co. announced a purchase of 1.280.000 available Bandai-shares (2.7% of the total). Because of this, Nintendo is now one of the top 10 shareholders of the Bandai corporation.

According to Famitsu, this is simply a sign of Nintendo's plans to take over Bandai completely (which is being denied by both Bandai and Nintendo spokespersons). Since Bandai currently owns the licences to several popular anime brands, Nintendo would surely be interested in using these in their games.
