GBA Mailbag (Issue 2)

Just 1 question this time, it's inside (and so is the answer)

Just 1 question this time...

Registered member Afromanpeter asked us: "Hi there! First of all - great site. Love it. Original news and personal style. My question: How many years do you think the GBA (and SP) will "last" before Nintendo releases a new console?"

Well Afromanpeter, Nintendo already admitted that they're working on a new version of both the GBA aswell as the GameCube 2. In an interview with IGN (February 28, 2002), Perry Kaplan from Nintendo of America told that Nintendo is currently working on the idea of a new GBA, but you don't have to worry just yet: the new GBA will certainly not appear before 2005. With the current trend of technological achievements, it wouldn't surprise me if the successor will indeed be brought on the market in 2005. Whether the new handheld will be 64bit or even higher remained unknown, but my guesses are, that it will feature better 3D modelling.
