3DS Twinbee Becomes Next 3D Classic Title

Nintendo of Japan have revealed the identity of the next title to get the 3D treatment under the '3D Classics' banner for the 3DS and it's none other than classic shmup Twinbee.

Nintendo have confirmed that Twinbee, the arcade and NES shmup originally released in 1985 in Japan, will be getting the 3D treatment in Japan next week as it becomes the third title, and the second shoot'em up title, to be added to what will be a small 3D Classics collection of titles on the 3DS, with the first two being Excitebike and Xevious both of which are already to download worldwide.

Although the game will be getting the 3D treatment, the game will be sacrificing it's two player element, now strictly sticking to a single player format, which is undoubtedly disappointing as the networking capabilities are there.

Still, with the game having been widely revered in Japan, more so in the arcade than on the Famicom (NES), it'll make another great addition to the 3D Classics series on the 3DS. No information has been released as to when the game will be made available for download on the North American or European eShop but given previous releases, the time scale shouldn't be long.

With Excitebike, Xevious and now Twinbee making up half of the series heading to the 3DS, we eagerly await the announcement of the final 3 titles, and we'll be sure to bring you that information when it is announced.
