Remember the European price is technically non-existent, with the retailers price been chosen by them not Nintendo.
If you where an early adopter do not threat yet, Nintendo plans to give early adopters a range of free games. Starting with 10 free NES Virtual Console titles from September 1st, and 10 GBA Virtual Console games later in the year. Well, since none of the third party developer is willing to step up to the plate to be the first people to develop something new on 3DS except Team Ninja, Nintendo is taking matter into their own hands. This is great for gamers and developers, more importantly the price drop would have better promotional effect than if 3DS were to originally be priced for $170.
To be honest, especially in Australia its at the price it should of been in the first place.
