3DS Nintendo reveals Netflix for 3DS

Nintendo has revealed that the Nintendo 3DS will have Netflix capabilities at GDC.

Netflix members with an unlimited plan at $7.99 a month can access the features to stream movies and TV shows directly to their Nintendo 3DS system.

Nintendo has also revealed that the 3DS Netflix will function the same as the Wii Netflix. They will also be interconnected, with a video watched on the Wii one been able to be picked up again on the 3DS.

It is unknown if Netflix functionality will be available once the May update arrives or at another date.

  • I know Disney and Pixar are interested in releasing their 3D movies by any mean, otherwise most of their 3D movies just sit in red. I don't think Nintendo's network is setup for full length 3D movie stream, best they can do is offer download to SD card. I do believe the 3D movies they mentioned are short clips like interviews, game previews, and 3D movie trailers.

  • That may be true- but it doesn't Nintendo plan for 3D movies? Maybe this will be the delivery system for them?

  • Too bad Netflix is not the kind of company that would fork to establish a 3D streaming service just for Nintendo. In another 5 ~ 7 years when 3D movies are in dollar bins across the nation we will probably see Netflix 3D.
